About Itemize
Itemize is a mobile service that automates receipt management for individuals.
The company was founded in 2010 with the goal of putting receipts to work.
Today Itemize processes receipts from thousands of merchants in over twenty countries.
The system works by gathering all your paper and digital receipts in one central place.
The Itemize Mobile App captures information from paper receipts using a smartphone’s camera.
Digital receipts are captured via email. Itemize extracts a range of useful intelligence including descriptions, prices, merchants, images, and categories.
Itemize works instantly and automatically so your receipts can get to work saving you time, hassle, and money.

Jim Thomas
Founder and CEO
Jim has over 20 years of experience, and has held positions at First Manhattan Consulting Group, Booz-Allen Hamilton, and Morgan Stanley.
Prior to founding Itemize, Jim was Managing Partner for Information Asset Strategy Group LLC, a payments innovation advisory firm. Earlier, Jim was Global Practice Leader & Senior Vice President for MasterCard Advisors, a division of MasterCard Inc. Jim holds a BA from Franklin and Marshall College, Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Jim is certified in German and Swedish. In his spare time, Jim enjoys playing piano and spending time with two very active Portuguese Water Dogs.
Alex Bennigsen
Chief Marketing Officer
With over 30 years experience, Alex has extensive worldwide expertise in loyalty and financial services industry, including high level collaborative operational, sales and marketing initiatives for corporate B2B and B2C activities, franchise groups and financial services products.
Alex was previously a Marketing Director with American Express and Citibank working on new products and card programmes in the UK, USA, Asia and Australia. Her extensive consulting experience spans across IHG, VW Group, British Gas, RBS Group National Australia Group, GE, Cendant Group, Bank of China, LTSB, and HSBC.
Alex has a degree from Strathclyde University and Harvard.

Jessica Haller
VP Strategy
Jessica is an entrepreneur and payments industry expert. Prior to working at Itemize, she was the CEO of a climate change data start-up and CIO of a not for profit. Jessica worked for Jim at MasterCard Advisors where they pioneered Commerce Intelligence, turning 250 terabytes of payments data into actionable intelligence and a profitable line of business.
Jessica has a BS from Wharton and an MPA in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University. In her spare time, Jessica is a Leader with the Climate Reality Project.

Mike Haley
Lead Data Scientist
Mike has over 20 years of IT experience, whose first "real job" out of NYU was with a machine translation company in Tokyo, Japan.
After earning an M.A. in Linguistics, and holding positions including IT Director at Thomson Financial and Search Architect at TheLadders, Mike is in his happy place right at the crossroads of IT and Linguistics: NLP.
Mike speaks some Japanese, some Hebrew, and English with a New England accent.
